Is Plant-Based Eating Better for Wildlife Diversity?

Granted, as an omnivore!!!

(an animal or person that eats a diversity of food, both plant and animal origin)

Flexitarian!

I may be slightly biased.

But diversity is the key.

To the survival of our species.

As a hunter

Who used to work with dogs.

Working one small dog!

Who would drive animals from the cover.

To a second medium-sized dog designed for running.

This is the natural way of life.

Seeing the animal outwit my pack was just as enjoyable as the sense of pride when we were prosperous.

~

It was fair game

I trained my dogs to be respectful and polite with the acknowledgement of the pack leader’s satisfaction for praise.

The rest was only their natural

instinct.

I have not and would not use a gun to hunt an animal.

Granting an unfair balance to the hunter over their chance of fair survival.

Nor have i used a dog to go to ground.

This experience was part and parcel of my being a country lad growing into a country person.

Seeing firsthand the diversity of wildlife that comes with a fair mix of environmentally friendly farming practices.

Tasting the differing flavours in animal products and byproducts.

The changing factor?

The natural plant diversity in the animals’ diet.

Driven by the demand to

Supply diverse Products

For the local market at local prices.

The cow pat is a sound example of paying a reasonable price for your produce.

Over the environmental impact of an omnivore diet?

A cow pat that lands in the field from a cow that eats the grass from the same field

Will be firm and take weeks to break down by the natural ecological system.

A cow pat mixed with cow piss from a cheaper industrialised farm is WET and more concentrated. When being mechanically sprayed onto the fields and will run off into the waterways at the first rainfall.

The same applies to plant-based farms.

The increased need for concentrated fertilisers and chemical insecticide sprays.

Used in industrialised production to drive down the price £$%

Or

Simply fitting our perception of what the latest trending anything should look like.

Is a plant-based diet less impactful on the diversity of the general ecosystem?
