Daylight Saving Time (DST): Friend or Foe? In the modern

man in brown camouflage sitting on top of tank

Daylight saving time (DST) was introduced on April 30th 1916, During World War I

“ The war to end all wars. “

To save on the amount of COAL used to fuel the economy and heat our homes.

At the time

We burned coal to heat our homes and to produce town gas for lighting and cooking!

Even in the age of renewable energy.

Using electricity as an energy source can create more emissions than burning Gas at home.

Because Energy companies burn solid or liquid fuels to produce electricity.

But we can burn Gas more efficiently to heat a pan of water than to boil a kettle!

The Irony of us!!

Only after the great London smog of 1952.

Did we start to think that coal is not the best cheap energy?

Then we discovered natural Gas in the North Sea in 1965.

After 59 or so years of burning Gas as a cleaner Energy source.

Only once we are struggling to breathe again.

Are we now thinking it might be better to burn Seasoned wood?!

The Irony of the story is that without fuel

There is no fire!!

Without fire!!

There is no Economy

Without an expanding economy!!

There would be no advancement in society.

The Beginning of the end was when our Ancestors.

First discovered the ability of fire.

Not to keep us warm, cook our food, or keep us safe from predators.

But to have the ability.

To change a rock into metal,

Metal into a weapon

Weapons into trade,

And trade into the

Expansion of civilisation…………….
